Overview
Data created for assets are called Attributes. Attributes have the following properties:
- Type
- Template
- Value
- Prefix
- Suffix
Type:
There are two types of attributes, standard and site.
Site Attributes contain information about the asset that is universal and does not change between projects. This information may be modified, but only by users with manager permission. For assets where this information has not been set, it may be filled in by non-manager users. Once it is set, however, it's permission will change to manager only. Typical uses of these attributes are values such as asset name, location, size, etc. When a user is viewing a Report to enter data, Site Attributes will be read only and the data entry field will be grayed out.
Standard Attributes contain all other data collected for an asset. These values do not carry over between projects. You may, however, copy this data from one project to another using the "Copy Data" feature available to project managers.
Template
An Attribute Template defines an Attributes name and structure. Templates may be nested. When creating a Report Template, the nesting structure is defined. Each data point collected only exists within the nested scope of it's template. This nesting structure may be represented by a chained string of template names joined by the ">" character, ie "Name 1>Name 2".
Value
Attribute values are the core function of attributes. Values can be any string of data.
Prefix
Attribute Prefixes are defined by project managers and are added to the data when it is rendered in reports or downloads.
Suffix
Attribute Suffixes are defined by project managers and are added to the data when it is rendered in reports or downloads.
